Water Tower was founded in 2005 by multi-instrumentalist & vocalist Kenny Feinstein. Formerly known as The Water Tower Bucket Boys, their name was changed to Water Tower in 2012 and the band relocated from Portland, Oregon to Los Angeles, California. While their lineup has evolved over time, Water Tower have maintained an ongoing reputation as a force to be reckoned with, with a growing horde of loyal fans known as “The Owls”. Water Tower is fueled by Feinstein’s masterful song-crafting, fiercely DIY approach, and genre-bending sonic identity that blends bluegrass & old-time revivalism with a distinctly punk-rock edge. Their unique fusion of genres has earned them a reputation as one of the most exciting and innovative bands to emerge from the California bluegrass scene.
The band's current lineup consists of Kenny Feinstein, Tommy Drinkard, Taylor Estes, & Jesse Blue Eads and they are independently managed by Joanne Ledesma. The group divides their time between working on new material, practicing for upcoming shows & festivals, and busking at local freeway off-ramps. Busking has given them a unique platform & opportunity to hone their skills by the side of the road. Many of their songs such as “AMPM” & “Skante Warrior” are inspired by local street culture & their experiences while busking.
Water Tower have played a number of bluegrass festivals in recent years including the California Bluegrass Association (CBA) Father’s Day Festival, Huck Finn Jubilee, Topanga Banjo Fiddle Festival, Santa Cruz BrewGrass Festival, Sawtooth Family Gathering, Frank Turner’s Lost Evenings, Summer’s End, & in 2025 they will make their debut at Telluride Bluegrass Festival. They were also an official showcase band at IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) World of Bluegrass in 2024. Since 2022 they have toured heavily on the West Coast & in 2023 they completed a successful UK tour. Water Tower have had the pleasure of sharing a stage with other bluegrass acts including The Brothers Comatose, AJ Lee & Blue Summit, Crying Uncle, Kitchen Dwellers, Hillary Klug, Steve Poltz, Molly Tuttle, & more.
