Water Tower was founded in 2005 by multi-instrumentalist Kenny Feinstein. While his lineup has evolved over time, the origin has always been led by Feinstein. He is a masterful song-crafter, fiercely driven by a DIY approach that applies his own genre-bending sonic fusion of bluegrass and old-time revivalism with a distinctly punk-rock edge. In 2019, He relocated from Portland to Los Angeles to further the bands career and line-up unintentionally creating what is now referred to as Alternative Bluegrass from Los Angeles.

Formerly called The Water Tower Bucket Boys, Feinstein morphed the Water Tower sound into a more comprehensive sound that Los Angeles embraced. Los Angeles is where he picked up his current lineup of Tommy Drinkard (Banjo, Guitar) Jesse Blue Eads (Banjo, Bass) and Taylor Estes (Bass, Mandolin) as well as independent management with Joanne Ledesma. Since 2019 the band began busking on a special offramp in downtown Los Angeles, at 7am they woke up to they hone their skills by practicing new material, traditional songs, and harmonizing over car motors while live streaming across the globe. The busking spot not only gave them social notoriety but also a platform to create songs about the local culture like “AMPM” which is a convenient store across the street and “Scante Warrior” is about a homeless man who compliments their music with good energy. The band quickly gained a larger global audience. The newer audience became a force to be reckoned with as a growing horde of loyal fans who deem them selves “The Owls” on their own fan page. Not letting musical purists stop them from doing what they love, they forged their own sound which is a mix of traditional bluegrass songs, fiddle tunes, old time music, alternative, punk rock and urban song influences. Within a few years they won the respect of some of the best Bluegrass festivals in California such as Huck Finn Jubilee, The California Bluegrass Association Fathers Day Festival, Good Old Fashioned, The Great 48, South State 48, Millpond, Topanga Banjo Fiddle Fest, Long Beach Bluegrass Fest, Santa Cruz Mountain Brewgrass Festival and countless others. In 2022-2024 they toured heavily on the West Coast as well as a 2023 U.K tour. They share the same stages with other successful California acts like Crying Uncle, AJ Lee and Blue Summit, Brothers Comatose, Kitchen Dwellers and others. Read More on
